Nowadays there are a billion ways to get information and news. While most of my peers will opt to check out Twitter or Facebook for news, I prefer to choose more unconventional methods of catching up with world events.
One of the online sources I use every day is a website called Newsmap. The website stitches together the most looked at news stories online. It's colorful and easy to read format uses fonts and bigger boxes to emphasize the bigger stories at the moment.

The website allows you to customize your news intake by checking off different topics such as 'Health', 'Entertainment', 'Sports', 'Technology', 'Business' and more. The capability to customize my news source to cater to my interests makes this my favorite way of getting the news. I also love that it features different sources from around the world because it offers different perspectives on several different topics.
The other online source I use is actually an app called 'Skimmin'. Their slogan is "Save Time. Stay Informed," and that is exactly what it allows you to do. The app has a clean white background and also uses different colors to represent the different sections of news; whether it be business or sports, etc. I just looked at the desktop version and though they both look similar, I love how easy it is to scroll through on my phone. This ability is very similar to the format used for most mobile social media applications.
